UK Driver's Number Plate Eyetest Simulator

Every effort has been made to make SeeDrive© as accurate as possible.
SeeDrive© uses the letter designs as legally described by the UK government.

SeeDrive© calculates the size of the number plate on your screen, and recommends the correct easy room distance for you to test your sight.

If you fail this test you should not be driving, and you are strongly recommended to have your sight tested and eyes examined.
If you wear spectacles for driving, you should of course be wearing them for this test as well.

Please note:

The law states that driver's must be able to read a clean number plate. You must be able to read a car number plate made after 1 September 2001 from 20 metres (with glasses or contact lenses, if necessary).

Pre 1 September number plates were a little larger and should be read from a distance of 20.5 metres.

SeeDrive© equates with a clean number plate in good daylight.

If you have been refused a licence because of your eyesight, then before you can drive again, you must be able to satisfy the authority that your vision is 6/12 with one or both eyes, and that you have a satisfactory field of vision. A visit to an optometrist with the necessary equipment to evaluate your visual field is required.

People over 55 should be particularly vigilant about checking their fitness to drive.

Mark out the correct room distance and try this on your friends.
